This week we sit down with FoodMaven CEO Ben Deda to discuss the wild inefficiency in our food supply chain and what this Colorado based start-up is doing to reduce the 40% of food that’s grown on farms and ends up in the garbage. FoodMaven sources product that would otherwise never make it to a dinner table because of oversupply, imperfections, or logistics and sells it to restaurants and grocery stores at a discount, providing an market for otherwise wasted product and a cost savings for hospitality. In the past three weeks they’ve pivoted from 100% B2B to a B2C provider of delivery/pickup food service in the Colorado region to service their community and react to the drop in demand from restaurants.
